This week's Spotify playlist is compiled by Ian Birrell, Deputy Editor of The Independent (and one-time reviewer for the now defunct Melody Maker). Ian is also a founder of Africa Express, which brings African and Western musicians together for unique live collaborations. Africa Express has staged a series of acclaimed shows by renowned musicians from around the world in Brixton, Bamako, Glastonbury, Kinshasa, Liverpool, Lagos and Camden.
